My name is Mircea and I am from Romania. Born and raised in Bucharest and I have been passionate about computers and technoloy since an early age.
Although I have graduated Management School within Academy of Economics in Bucharest, my interest in computers pushed me into a marketing and sales position with one of the biggest system integrators in Romania. After few years I took a new challenge with Romtelecom, the Romanian incumbent, a company undergoing a massive restructuring programme at that time – ideal place to put my academic background at work, first within Key Accounts Division and latter in Wholesale Division as a National Account Manager.
In 2006 I have relocated to London and joined Sir John Cass Business School for a full time MBA programme. Since graduating the MBA programme, I have been working for Lightapp - a technology start-up aiming to provide green computing solutions in Central and Eastern Europe.
At the time I have contemplated the MBA programmes alternatives, I felt that Cass offered the best mix in terms of location, international exposure and choice of courses, as well as an excellent school ranking. I have enjoyed every minute spent in the classes, study rooms, libraries and working with my colleagues and more important, I have made friends for life.
I want to be part of something revolutionary, something that will change the way people look at, understand and use the computers, and from my point of view is not a question of “if”, but “how soon".
I have been always keen to share my knowledge and experience with others, and currently I am advising Romanian students who are applying for international programmes – how to select the schools, how to prepare and ho to apply for school and scholarships. Secondly, my choice of career was influenced by the social component – one of our target markets are the schools, which are able to increase the computer to pupils ratio by using our solutions and therefore provide access to better education. Within the future pipeline, I could see a strong CSR programme and personal involvement with a number of charities focused on education.
I believe you don’t have to be perfect, just better than yesterday.
I would ask Stelios what is, from an entrepreneur perspective, the best tip to survive a recession. Stelios should ask me what I am working on.
