Kasia

Graduated LSE 2009 BSc Economics

My name is Kasia and I am from Poland.  I graduated LSE in BSc Economics 2009.

I have always wanted to finish the best university and get engaged in the economical part of politics, as I easily notice various issues which people tackle with and find difficult to solve. I really care for my country Poland, damaged by the communist rule, and therefore, at some stage of my future career as an academic researcher, I want to make it more economically prospering. I strongly believe that education of the highest caliber is essential in coping with all kinds of difficulties and imperfections. Being educated at one of the world top universities, situated in the middle of the financial centre, gives a unique opportunity to learn from one of those the most experienced and developed countries. This is why I have chosen LSE as my place to study.

My true dream is to become an academic researcher and contribute further to the common knowledge in Economics by suggesting new ways of understanding and coping with hard to comprehend issues. I would be honoured if one day some of them became beneficial not only to social scientists but also to firms, governments and whole nations.

However, I strongly believe it is equally important to convey knowledge and scientific achievements to new generations. Therefore, in addition to my research, I am planning to work as a lecturer at one of the top universities. But this is only one of the means of facilitating access to knowledge. I hope that one day I will be able to support, also financially, others - especially those in the similar situation as I am now.

Stelios’ generosity has already made an immense difference in my life. Instead of spending all my time working to earn the money, I could get engaged in various activities and broaden my horizons. I was a treasurer of two huge societies: BALADS (dance society) and Gdansk Fahrenheit Scholarship Holders Association as well I was an active member of many more. Additionally, I keep training ballroom and latin dances. Last year I took part in many competitions on university circuit, winning high places not only for LSE but for all London universities. In February 2009, together with dance colleagues, we won the show dance competition at Southern Universities Dance Competition.

I would ask Stelios if there is anything that he would change in his life and I would ask Stelios to ask me what would I like to be remembered for?
