My name is Tom and I am Russian. I graduated from LSE in BSc Economics in 2008. I was born in Russia and grew up in Austria, I studied in the UK and have family in the US. I currently work as an interest rate trader for Citigroup.
I enrolled in LSE’s BSc Economics programme due to the university’s renowned reputation in the mathematical study of global economics. I enjoy macroeconomic analysis of financial markets and hope to apply the gained knowledge to advance my professional career.
I want to be successful in my working environment. While I do not have a rigid view of where I want to be in 10 years, I can see myself as a hedge fund trader, a fund manager or an entrepreneur.
As people are the world’s greatest asset, I plan to follow Stelios’ example by sponsoring individuals who are bright and promising, regardless of their background. One way of doing this would be to set up a university-based fund and grant a shareholding to interested students.
Being a Stelios scholar was a great way of building a network with talented people from all over the world.
I would ask Stelios how he comes up with his business ideas and then how he evaluates the risk/return on his investment and I would ask Stelios to ask me what my top priority is in life.
