Business people with disabilities have little time left to apply for this year's Stelios Award for Disabled Entrepreneurs in the UK.
The award, jointly run by the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation and Leonard Cheshire Disability, recognises the achievements of, and unique challenges faced by, disabled entrepreneurs. Now in its sixth year, the award offers a £50,000 cash prize to the winner - the largest cash sum of its kind, as well as business support for the three finalists through the Stelios' Scholar scheme.

Cypriot entrepreneurs from both sides of the island were out in force today (15 October) to see the fulfilment of a promise to give €1 million to select partnerships from the island's two business communities. Over the last four years each of 20 joint ventures comprising one Greek Cypriot and one Turkish Cypriot entrepreneur have received €50,000 each in cash – a total of €1 million pledged to peace on the island.
At a packed prize ceremony held at lunchtime at Limassol's Stelios House (a listed neoclassical building belonging to Stelios mother's family), finalists in the Stelios Award for Business Co-operation in Cyprus and other VIP guests witnessed the handing over of cheques worth €250,000 to this year's winners. Sponsored by the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, the education-to-entrepreneurship charity headed by easyGroup founder, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the awards have become a major landmark in the Cyprus business calendar with a total of €1 million awarded as prize money since 2009.
