Graduated LSE 2008 Bsc EconomicsMy name is Jan and I am Polish. I graduated LSE in 2008 and at the moment I am an MPhil Economics student at University of Cambridge and from September PhD Economics student at EUI in Florence. My interest and my work are split between economics and composing music (classical). There are many reason for struggling with my piano and even more for struggling with economics textbooks and papers. I will start with economics: once I heard a concert of a very special pianist: he was so excellent that he even did not need to care about what note to play next. He was just having fun playing with his music. The same can be true for economics: if you know all mathematical and statistical tools you can just play with them to construct good models and make certain phenomena more understandable. And if this will help to solve some problems making people in need safer… As to music, in theory the point of art is to transfer emotions. I hope it is true, but from point of view of a composer it looks differently: it’s mainly about discovering emotions (or rather a good description of them) and then, if you are a nice composer, sharing them with others. Just to clarify: at least at the moment I am a private composer for my friends rather then a public composer. And I think I don’t have a right to compare myself to great genuine composers. googling my name will not give you many results... |
