On Mar. 31, 2009 the Cass School of Business at City University continued its Grammenos Interview series, featuring Stelios Haji-Ioannou the iconoclastic entrepreneur best known for creating easyJet and the easyGroup of companies.Professor Costas Grammenos is the current Vice-Chancellor of City University, Deputy Dean of the Cass Business School and founder of the Costas Grammenos Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance. The Grammenos series seeks to introduce well-known business figures to the Cass community in a relaxed, informal setting. Students were not only able to ask Stelios questions about his approach to business and entrepreneurship, but also got a rare glimpse into Stelios’ background. Family pictures, exam results (!) and anecdotes from Stelios’ beloved Professor Grammenos punctuated a lively history of entrepreneurial ventures and business-building. After the hour-long interview, Stelios joined the Stelios Scholars – a now 30-strong group of students awarded scholarships to attend either the MBA or MsC program at Cass – to chat about their plans and achievements. |
A packed gathering of LSE scholars and their sponsors, including the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation heard the easyJet founder and serial entrepreneur explain his vision of "giving back". |
